Bio

Jared L. Anderson, Alice Hudson Professor of Chemistry, joined the chemistry faculty in August 2015 and is also a Faculty Scientist in Ames Laboratory. Prior to joining ISU, he was a faculty member at The University of Toledo from 2005 through 2015 where he held the ranks of assistant, associate, and full professor of chemistry. He earned his B.S. in 2000 from South Dakota State University and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 2005. Anderson was a recipient of a NSF CAREER Award, Emerging Leader in Chromatography Award given by LCGC Magazine, and the American Chemical Society Young Investigator in Separation Science Award. In 2014 and 2019, he was included in the “Top 40 under 40” and "Top 100 Analytical Scientists Worldwide" Power List, respectively, by The Analytical Scientist. In 2016, he was awarded the Pittsburgh Conference Achievement Award. In 2019, he was given the LAS Dean's Emerging Leader Award at ISU and was designated the inagural "Alice Hudson Professor of Chemistry" later that year. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed publications, 5 book chapters, and has co-edited a book series published by Wiley titled Analytical Separation Science. He holds 6 patents and currently serves on the editorial advisory boards of Analytical Chemistry, Analytica Chimica Acta, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, Journal of Liquid Chromatography and Related Technologies, LCGC Magazine, Talanta Open, and Trends in Analytical Chemistry (TrAC). He was formerly a Senior Editor for the Journal of Separation Science and currently serves as Editor for the Journal of Chromatography A.
