1/3/2018 The Anderson Group welcomes several new faces to the group! Dr. Deepak Chand joins the group as a post-doc. Dr. Chand obtained his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Idaho working under Prof. Jean’ne Shreeve where he explored ionic liquids as hypergolic fuels. He continued his research on ionic liquids for the past year with Profs. Mudring and Meyer in the Ames Laboratory. We also welcome undergraduates Hugo Hogenkamp and Carley McConnell to the group!
12/11/2017 Several new papers from the group have been published! Two papers have been accepted for publication in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry! Congratulations to Henry and Liese for their report using metal-containing ionic liquids in gas chromatography. A collaborative paper with Prof. Eduardo Carasek and Dr. Josias Merib from Brazil has also been accepted! In this study, magnetic ionic liquids are used for the extraction and quantitation of estrogens from urine. Congratulations to Maria Jose for the acceptance of her manuscript highlighting magnetic-assisted microextraction procedures in sample preparation in Scientia Chromatographica.

Dr. Anderson has been awarded the 2012 Outstanding Research Award from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Research from the Anderson Research Group was presented at the 36th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC) conference held in Riva del Garda, Italy on May 27 – June 1. Dr. Anderson presented an invited talk discussing advances in polymeric ionic liquid sorbent coatings in solid-phase microextraction.

The Anderson research group welcomes Will Cole to the group. Will is a sophomore undergraduate chemistry major who will be researching chiral ionic liquids as enantioselective solvent systems.
Dr. Anderson has accepted an invitation to join the Editorial Advisory Board of LCGC North America.
Dr. Anderson will be awarded the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry Award for Young Investigators in Separation Science at the 2012 Pittcon Conference in Orlando, Florida on March 14.
We welcome Qing Qin and Cheng Zhang to the research group. During their Ph.D. studies in the group, Qing and Cheng will be working on new sample preparation techniques as well as alternative synthetic/polymerization approaches to creating polymeric ionic liquids.
Congratulations to Yunjing Meng and Qichao Zhao for both successfully defending their Ph.D. dissertations during the Summer and Fall semesters of 2011, respectively.
